I promised Pat Riot I would post pictures if I bought the Smith and Wesson with the nickel finish at today's gun show. Here you are Pat. It is a 1980 S&W 27-2, pinned and recessed because they were still doing it back then. The nickel finish is about 98%+ condition. It had been fired but was well cared for.

I took it to the range and after getting the POI to POA, I shot it at 10 yards, seated with my elbows resting on the counter, single action, 158 grain .38 Special target loads. I saw the cloverleaf growing and told myself "Don't yank it", so naturally I yanked it. But I knew the flyer was me so I'm still pleased.

The photo is after the range session of course and after cleaning, following the recommendations of those who posted on my previous thread. I used Kroil on patches to wipe down the outside and also to swab the bore and chambers, mainly because I had never used Kroil as a cleaner before. It worked fine. I prepped the revolver for the range trip with a thin film of Mobil 1 grease inside the frame around the cylinder, and on the face of the cylinder, trying to shield the finish from as much crud as possible. (An old black powder revolver trick.). It worked too. 99% of the crud wiped off the frame and cylinder with a soft cloth before I applied any Kroil.

Thanks to all you enablers for helping me add another N Frame to the herd. It is getting acquainted with the others at the moment.

That is a true beauty!

My only nickel plated gun is a S&W Model 49 no-dash...that I really don’t like shooting because the sights are impossible to use.:(

That Model 27 is certainly one I wouldn’t have passed up either, you brought home a real winner in the looks and in the accuracy department :).

Stay safe.

Congrats on a most excellent acquisition!

Now that's one awesome looking N frame and nickel plated too!

Looks to me like it's lights out in the accuracy department as well!
