I have a newbie question. What does S&W's Performance Center do to their revolvers? (Some of them are nearly double the cost of the non-PC version)
If you had a choice would you get a Performance Center revolver like a 66-6 F-comp or get a production gun and have work done on it (ie getting a Ruger SP-101 and sending it for this: http://www.geminicustoms.com/RugerSP101prices.htm)?

Thanks!

Having 2, and one coming back with PC work done on it(don't have it at this point yet) I'll wade in...

The PC guns are pricey, kind of exclusive, and generally come with a host of small details that other revolvers don't have. I have the 627 & 327 PC revolvers and SHOULD HAVE a 629 that I turned up my nose at because I already had a .44 :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

I only dry fired the 629, but it had the suh-weeeeeeeetest trigger in DA I've every pulled. My current 627 is up there in 2nd place...

The 627 is ridiculously boring to shoot in both single and double action because if you do your part, the gun does it's part, no matter what load you feed it. This typically results in an 8 shot cylinder producing a 1 hole or maybe a 2 hole group at 7 yards. Like you, I read the hype, scoffed at the price... OTOH, compare the 1911 prices for a tack driving, reliable 1911...

Whether or not it's worth it is entirely subjective. I think they did an outstanding job on my 2 PC works and have no complaints other than price and there aren't more 627 barrel lengths available... ;)

One nice thing about the PC guns - full warranty coverage.
