I was thinking about getting a 629 light hunter and was wondering if the performance center tag was worth the few hundred it cost. I dont have a problem paying for quality, but i dont like wasting money either. What do yall think?

I have several Performance Center guns and they are worth the $250 bump in price to me. If not for the combinations of features/finishes that you can't get on the standard production guns, then at least for the resale value alone.

Having said that, in looking at the real world prices the PC 629 is $866.
A stardard 629 is $600 and the 629 Classic is $632. The Classic looks like a real value to me.

Good Luck...

I am not a very experienced revolver shooter, I tried a S&W 625 with wooden square butt conversion grips. I have average to small size hands. The trigger was horrible compared to my N-frame 627 PC with an action job. I think they are worth the extra money.

If you want a PC feature then I think they are worth it. They make guns in configurations you can't get on a standard gun. If you want a gun with standard features I don't think the PC tag is worth the money. In my experience the PC action work is about halfway done, better than stock but not even close to a good action job. I haven't handled one yet that is anywhere near as smooth as one when I am done with it. If I can do a good action job I would certainly expect one from the PC if I ponied up an extra couple hundred dollars.
