Can anyone give me some advice. Ihave two S&W wood boxes that the blue flocking or cloth is shot and coming off. I had seen two auctions on GB where the sellers claim that the revolvers are in a refurbished wood box. I emailed both of them twice w/o a respose. So does anyone know where these presentation boxes be redone? My Model 25 and 29 need their homes redone. A call to S&W was of no help.

No advice here. Had the same problem.

I eventually got tired of the blue fuzz falling off and looking terrible, so I removed it all: took some mild wiping with a paper towel. I guess whatever stickum they used to put the fuzz on the underlying plastic just wore out.

Does't make sense to me to refurb the blue fuzz, supposing it can be done. If it's important to you to keep it as "original" as possible, just remove the gun from the box, never open it again, and sell the box "as is" if you ever sell the revolver.

It is a pretty simple matter to do it yourself.

Step one is to scrape & clean all the old flocking off of the liner.

Step two is to spray the liner with 3M auto adhesive.

Step three is to dump Royal Blue Flocking powder all over the liner and very lightly press it down with your fingers.

Step four is let the adhesive set up for 30 minutes or so, then dump the excess flocking powder in the trash and blow off the excess loose stuff with an air hose.

Thank you for your reply, and since my wife is real artsy, I'm going to be giving her a new project. I can't count the number of times you have helped me out and I most certainly appreciate it. You are a wonderful asset to the THR site.

Be sure and have her practice on something else first!!

Sheet Styrofoam might be good so she gets the hang of the spray adhesive might melt the plastic liner it you use to much.

And thanks for the compliment! :fire:
I blushed so much it dropped my blood pressure and I had to go take a pill!! :D

BTW: Take some before & after pics if you have a chance!
I'd sure like to see how they come out.
Who knows, maybe you can put your wife to work full time restoring those S&W boxes!!
