I did a "beauty shot" of a few of my favorite revolvers and 1911's tonight and thought I'd share one of the out takes here...

DHart

You do have a gift with photos sir !

Thank you so much for a Great Picture Showing a small sampling of GUNS NOT TO BUY.

These are great examples of Crappy Guns One MUST Avoid.

I am honored that DHart has chosen to join me others mentioned in another thread to avoid guns such as these <elbows him> and instead only buy new guns.

Just shut up and behave, DHart- I will expain it later, work with me here....

:)

Steve... gotta admit, wouldn't touch a new S&W (with the lock) for anything. All of mine are just a little older and lock-less. ;) But the new Colts? Wonderful indeed! :)

Wow, gorgeous guns. Really love all of them.

Great photography too.

I really really like the glamour shot! What kind of finish is on the XSE (looks like a black stainless on my monitor)?

Hey all... thanks for appreciating the pic.

1Kperday... the grips on all the guns are Ahrends. They offer a great range of awesome grips... my favorites.

Chris... congrats on that 29... the 29 is at the top of my favorite Smiths, right along with the 586.

Matt... the finish on the XSE is their standard blued finish. The gun is fairly new.

Wondering which one you'll have posing for the centerfold pull-out :D

Sweet work, once again.

wow!
such nice backgound and the clarity of the gun's detail is superb..great effort!!;) by the way, the best looking is the S&W 625, yes... i said it!!!

Thanks

DHart,

I've been looking at your pictures a lot, and liked them all. But this is the best so far! I've came back again many times to look at it.

Those guns look delicious :)

Keep 'em coming.

Picture Question

DHart, Great picture. I was wondering if you used any special lighting for the picture. My shots don't come anwhere close to your shots, and I would assume the lighting has a lot to do with it. If you could explain the lighting set up, i'm sure most people who post pictures of their guns would find it helpful. Thanks, Princecookie

I must confess that I've been earning my living as a professional photographer for many years. One tends to pick up a lot of lighting skills and knowledge over decades of working. I can't cram my years of knowledge into a post here, but my only light source in this image was a 4' soft box strip light above and behind the guns and some reflectors from the front. Pretty simply, really, if you have the tools and know how to use them. Camera on a tripod and all that good stuff, of course. And a lot of attention to details. A good way to start is by shooting outdoors with overcast skies or in the shade on the north side of a building. That will give you the same soft light that a photographer's soft box provides without the expense!

<snip>..and some reflectors from the front.

I always enjoy your pictures DHART - some quality work to be sure.

For the relectors - may I inquire - were you using white boards or something metallic?
