Is there a place that I can go to get a picture listing of all S&W revolvers produced? I saw a picture of a particular .357 that caught my eye in a magazine. However, it did not list the model of it. If I could see a picture listing, then I might be able to find out more on this particular model. Can you guys help out? Is there such a central location? I know that it is not in the current S&W catalog. So, what I am looking for might be a little older.

Thanks.

The Standard Catalog of Smith and Wesson - Third Edition by Supica and Nahas is the best place for this sort of thing.

Thanks for the info. However, is there somewhere online that I can go to find that info? If I have to I will try to find that catalog at a bookstore and buy it.

I found what I am looking for in the revolver picture thread posted by XavierBreath. It is a S&W 27-2 (blued) with maybe a 3 inch barrel I am guessing.

The model 27 is rather awesome. It will be worth the money, although it may take a little while for the sting to wear off....

If I found a good model 24 in four-inch for under a grand I'd buy it... Similar to the 27 but in .44 special...

Just something magical about them old Smith' N-frames!

Is this what you are looking for?

This has a 3 1/2" barrel and are highly desirable guns that are no longer in production. The prices have been all over the map in recent years and is certainly dependant on condition. I would think that a good shooter grade could be had for $600 to $800. Good luck in your quest. I love mine and have owned it for over 35 years. I also have one that is a Pre 27, but that is another story.

That is exactly what I am drooling over. Very nice! If you ever decide to part with it.....

I'm sorry to say that this would be the last one I'd ever part with. The guy I bought it from only owned it a couple months and has been trying to buy it back ever since. I've been collecting Smiths for about 40 years and I've only sold 2 that I can remember. Good luck in your search. That's really half the fun.

DWF6666.. Pack that old dingy thing up and send it to my FFL.. Im even gonna "give" ya $600.00 for your trouble.. :neener:

Beautiful revolver BTW! ;)

I wonder why they have not released a 3" in the Classics series. It seems like with the demand it would be a far better seller than the 4" that they offer. Who knows?

Well....

I now have one. A really nice find. And just picked it up today!!!

New and unfired. 27-2 with 3-1/2" Pinned barrel and recessed cylinder.

Wow, beautiful gun and in superb condition! :what:

You guys are really rotten---now I'm going to be hunting for one of these to accompany the 65-6. One on the left hip and one on the right hip. Boy, is my wife going to be shaking her head!

Congratulations on a great gun. Those N frame diamond targets are worth a nice chunk of change themselves. If they are original to the gun, it should be an S prefix serial number. That makes it even sweeter! Have fun with it at the range.

dwf6666: Thanks for the comments about the grips. I do like them. What would those grips be worth? They are original to the gun. Also, this is an "S" prefix gun.

What do you think the value should be for this extremely nice revolver? I do like it!!! :D

Im not the shapest knife when it comes to S&W revolvers, but if the 3.5" barrel is as popular as the 3" then in unfired condition, it's probably worth well north of $1000.00 (Just going by what I've seen on Gunbroker.com.. Been watching for about 3 weeks now, all S&W revolvers with 3" or less barrel.. ) Enjoy, she's a beauty!!

And the story continues...

I was in my local gun shop today and I saw this little beauty in the case. It just had to come home with me.

28-2 Highway Patrolman with 4 inch barrel. My new 27-2 has a friend!:D

N Frame Diamond Targets have been bringing in the $150 and up range on fleabay.

Dang son, you've got it bad. LOL!

Welcome to the club: where all the guns in the world will still be one short of what you need.
