I got a S&W SW99, 9mm in a live auction Saturday. It came up early in the auction, so either no one knew what it was or they were still sound asleep. It came with the box and all the stuff inside, except it only came with one mag and it was a 10rd. It was made in May of 2004. I ordered two original S&W 16rd mags. I have a 2018 P99. Can't tell much difference other than S&W on it. IT was dirty. Don't think it had ever been cleaned, LOL. Nice gun

Nice find. I have the Walther. It's my nightstand gun over some other nice(r) pistols I have but I trust the Walther more.
Mine has the same full ambi controls of the original PPQ and factory superluminova steel sights.
It's also a factory chambered 9x21IMI made for the italian market.

I did get a good deal. Bid on 6 other guns that went way over my max bid. Maybe most of them didn't know what a SW99 is. Who knows. The trigger is not as smooth as my P99 AS, but i really like it.

I got one at an estate sale a couple of months back, along with S&W M57. I already had the Walther P99, so it's a nice combo to have. I did a little comparison in another thread.

I took both to the range this past Saturday, and both feel almost identical. The P99 has a slightly smoother double pull, but when tested with a digital trigger pull gauge, they're virtually identical.

Yep. The only things that are not Walther are the bare slide and barrel. Should be very similar.

Is the lever for the magazine release shorter on the Smith?

What is meant by "the bare slide"?

The mag release lever is quite a bit shorter, but easy to operate. All of the parts in the slide like the firing pin and spring, extractor and firing pin block are Walther except the barrel.

It's the "first generation" type of magazine release that also the P99 had.

Bare slide is the slide without all the components like striker, sights, extractor, etc.
