My old K-frame has one of those old screw in style trigger stops. I remember reading some book back in the day that said to remove them in a defensive firearm. I was wondering if that was true, and if I do can I put it back in later to keep the gun original?

When I was the department Range Officer, I removed a lot of those trigger stops. Save it if you want to and yes, if you can find it, you can reinstall it. I kept one in a revolver I used for target work, I applied shellac to the threads and it never worked it's way out. I fitted it to the trigger and it was a good shooting revolver.

I agree with the above. This trigger stop is only found in K-frame revolvers that have an adjustable rear sight, and made during or after 1945. In those that are not used in a defensive context they can be useful, but when they are they should be removed because in some circumstances they can block the trigger and prevent the gun from being fired.

In some N-frame revolvers you may find a pin inside the rebound slide spring. It is supposed to be a trigger stop, but seldom is because they aren't correctly fitted. If they aren't doing what they are supposed to, they can also be removed with no ill affects.
