Picked up a SA 1911 Milspec in a trade recently. I've wanted a 1911 for quite some time now, but never found the "right" deal for one. Anyway, I've heard lots of good things here and elsewhere about the SA Milspecs, and came upon a deal I couldn't pass up.
Well, although I was happy with the deal, she still needed a little work. First, the black rubber grips (IMHO) were an eyesore. Next, had some FTE problems that were solved rather readily with a Wilson bulletproof extractor and good mags. (Came with a somewhat spotty Ed Brown mag.) Finally, I didn't have any leather....
Here is before:
And after:
Upgrades include:
Wilson Bulletproof extractor
2x Chip McCormick Match 8-rd Mags
Mitch Rosen ARG holster
Mitch Rosen dual mag pouch
Wilson blue hex-head grip screws
Rosewood diamond-cut grips
I'm a happy camper now!
