Lordy Jesus it's true!!!!!!!!! :what:
I found a Israel Arms G5000 1911 for $250 at my FFL today!!! I could hear it calling me saying "Hey Goy, here I am. Buy me!!!!!" Lord help me, I could not resist, so out came $50 for a deposit!!!!

Now for the questions. Anybody know anything about Israeli 1911's??? It comes with one Mec-Gar mag. Will Wilson or Chip McCormick mags work in it??? It appears to have Hogue rubber grips and some kind of oversized mag release installed. The slide fit is tight and the trigger pull is crisp at about three pounds. It also has a skeletonized hammer. Did I find a diamond in the rough or should I get my $50 back??? What say you 1911 freaks out in THR land????

Which shop did you get it from?

Don't even tell me you found a 1911 clone for $250 at Mandall's !!!! ;)

Well, seeing as to how you've been to the dark side and back a half million times, which side are you on now?;)

Mylhouse,
I hate to burst yer bubble, but YUP it was at Mandalls!!!!! Right place. Right time!!!!!!

As touching my allegiances. This all started with my Kahr MK9 and proceded through my first 1911 type pistol: Browning High Power. Right now, I'm one confused puppy!!!!!

The current bruhaha with Glock has caused me to question my loyalty to Lord Gaston even more!!! The thought has entered my mind to trade my beloved G36 for the remaining balance of the purchase price!!

Wilson and McCormick mags will work just fine. But if you shoot very often, I would stay away from the McCormicks and just grab some Wilsons.

You said you would NEVER buy a 1911.....................You may have a diamond in the rough there. I had an IAI at one time that ran fine but was somewhat out of spec. I think Israel Arms is a different company though. For $250 you can't get hurt that bad, but you should have gotten a nice respectable name for your first 1911. Try it out and let us know, but don't be bashing 1911's on the experience of this gun.

Congrats! Adding a 1911 to a collection is always a milestone of sorts. May it help you forget about any/all of your Glock woes! ;)

yeah denfoote, you've gotten bit - next you'll be going for a high end Kimber; and after that it's only a matter of time before you have somebody build you your own custom to your specs from scratch...might as well sell the 9's now so you have the money when you need it! :D

Don't know much about them. Most of what I've heard is good. I think it is pretty much a regular 1911 so parts shouldn't be a problem. I like Chip McCormick mags in my Charles Daly (yeah, I know mine is supposed to be POC according to many on THR and over on the old TFL but no one told my Daly). The only other thing I know about the IAIs is that I want one (yup, once you get one 1911 they want to multiply, kinda like CZs).

The only thing now is for you to decide if the second one will be a Kimber or SA and if you want the Mil-spec or Loaded in the Springfield or Custom, or CDP in the Kimber (or one of the dozens of other model choices). After that decision then you can decide barrel size.

Or of course, you can just start saving now for the Wilson, Les Baer or Valtro that all 1911 owners seem to be eventually headed for.

I thought everyone started with a 1911 like me? :) (and a CD none the less)

Have fun with it! But don't forgot the G36 completely, it's still good!

I too am going down the 1911 road when I get back to the land of plenty.

Was set on Kimber Ultra Ten II but have since been turned off by alot of negative feedback (1911.com). Will do some more shopping around when I get back to Arizona.

A 1911 for $250 if its reliable thats a great price. Congrats.:) But watch out 1911s are ADDICTING and then to multiply when your not looking.:neener:

You know, the poison was injected when I got my BHP!!! Now, I fear I'm hooked!!!!!

That's how it happened to me denfoote. Shot the BHP for awhile, then bought a Colt Commander. Then traded my P99 for a Kimber Custom, now I'm saving for my 3rd.

Chip McCormicks work great for me. I have four of the 8 round shooting star magazines and would recommend them to anyone. NEVER had a failure to feed from any of them.

I get them for $12-16 either at my local gunshow or from Midway, and since they work great, I can't see paying double to triple for a Wilson, even if they are great magazines.

Also I found out that Chip McCormick's home office is down in South Austin, only a few minutes from where my parents live. They don't take walk up customers, but I was thinking about calling in an order and seeing if I can swing down there to pick it up to save shipping charges.
