SA vs. DA for Defense

Sean:

I could document my statements, but it would take hours researching old files, and frankly I'm not going to take the time. The fact that Miami, Los Angeles (and I think possibly N.Y.C.) went to D.A.O. revolvers is well known in law enforcement circles. If you want to believe that none of this is so that's your choice. I think that the odds you will (1) be involved in a shooting of any kind are unlikely, and (2) if you are some lawyer will try to nail you in a wrongful death suit by claiming you shot the other party accidentally because of a "hair trigger," but this could and has happened.

As I pointed out, a single-action pull does provide an advantage in the marksmanship department, but may cause an additional risk of adverse legal consequences. This was enough to cause some police departments to go to D.A.O. sidearms - both revolvers and then pistols. What you do, and any oher reader does, is their own business in my book, but do notice that a number of manufacturers (S&W, Ruger, SIG and Beretta among others) offer D.A.O. pistols, and then ask yourself, "why?"
