I'm looking into buying either a Sabre Defence AR or a Sig 556. I know the parts/accessories situation is not as favorable with the Sig, with the exception of magazines, but I'm more interested in which is likely the better quality arm. Can anyone offer their experiences with either of these, and particularly Sabre Defence products?

Sabre has a very good reputation, and another advantage of them is that they have a diverse yet logical AR lineup. I've always wanted one of their M5 midlength guns. This really comes down to whether you want an AR-15 or a SIG 556. I've never shot the SIG. I have handled it a bit, and it is very well-built. My only complaint was that it was a bit heavy, particularly up front. They apparently shoot well and are very reliable.

The SIG 556 is an excellent weapon system. Just be careful that you know what kind of rail system is on your gun that you buy. I've seen them with Weaver rails - not picatinnys before. Just make sure before you buy.

They shoot like a dream!

I'm a big fan of Sabre products. I have never shot a Sig rifle but when I handled one it seemed very front end heavy.

I'm going to try out a Saber Defense AR. I currently have one in 7.62x39 on order. I decided to go for ammo commonality in my small collection. I handled a Saber AR in my local gun shop and was very impressed with it's overall fit, finish and obvious build quality. I know there have been some historical magazine problems with this caliber in an AR, but hopefully, this issue has been worked out. Saber has an excellent reputation and I don't think they'd risk it by marketing a gun that has feed problems. Anyway, I've made my decision and I'll report back after I've run some rounds through it.

I'd love to hear about your experience with the 7.62x39 AR, even though I'm probably going to go with the 5.56x45. I'm glad to hear that Sabre Defence's line of products is generally thought of positively.

What kind of accuracy can be expected in a Sabre AR in 5.56? I've found that sort of information for the Sig 556 already, so that would help in my comparison.
