I have several Safariland 6378 ALS holsters. They have the little thumb lever that you have to rock forward to draw the gun. I bought one on Amazon last week. It arrived the other day. Model 6378 ALS holster for M&P .45. No locking lever in holster. So I call Amazon and ship back the holster and order a replacement. It came today. No locking lever. Just draw straight up. It clicks into place when the gun is holstered, but there is no locking lever to rock forward like on my other ones.

What gives? It says ALS right on it. Am I missing something? I would have ordered a FOBUS if I wanted a plastic holster with no retention.

I looked at the Amazon listing and they are pretty clear in the photos that model has no levers. Below in the item description it states:
ALS Level 1 Retention
The ALS or Automatic Locking System provides a high level of security without adding thumb breaks, snaps or levers requiring the use of the trigger finger. The ALS features an intuitive release which locks into place once the weapon is holstered and is easily depressed with a thumb. Check chart below to see included models.
Looks like a design change on their part from what they used to make. I get frustrated, too, when an old favorite is altered unexpectedly.

Incorrect. Here is the text from the description:

“Safarilands ALS concealment paddle and belt loop combo holster is a concealment version of the Automatic Locking System (ALS) series holsters. Once the weapon is holstered, it "locks" into place, providing an extra measure of security from standard open top holsters. A simple straight up draw is possible once the ALS is de-activated by the thumb while obtaining a shooting grip”

The gun is released by moving the lever with the thumb, not the trigger finger. The picture on the website clearly shows the lever, and a call to
Safariland confirmed it should have the lever. The two I have bought in the last three months have the lever. The text you included even mentions unlocking the gun with the thumb. The two I just received without the thumb lock can be drawn straight out. There is no retention. I suspect Safariland makes a version without the ALS and these are them placed in the wrong packaging. Scroll through the pictures on Amazon. They all clearly show the lever. There are no levers on the two I just received.

Called Safariland and they said it should have it. Got a replacement from Amazon and still no lever. Tried one more time and got the 3rd today. Still no lever. Here are some pics from Amazon that clearly show there should be a lever, and the one I got today with no lever. This seller must be scamming. Package clearly states ALS.

Is there a model number on the packaging? I'd bet dollars to donuts Amazon has something mis-binned in it's warehouse.

It says Model 6378 ALS. I think the seller is repackaging some fakes, or if there is a model without the ALS lock, then he’s swapping them out. Three in a row. Can’t be a mistake.

If it's a third party seller you're probably right. A real Safariland product would have a 10 digit part number with the first four digits being the model number. Like 6378-999-999.

I already sent it back, but there was a sticker on the side of the packaging. When I called Safariland I should have asked if they sold the same type of holster without the ALS, but they told me for sure if the packaging said ALS, which the picture clearly shows, it should have had it, so either it was a genuine Safariland without the ALS that got put into an package marked ALS, or it was a counterfeit holster put in a Safariland packaging.

The third one to come to me had clearly been opened, by the way.
