Safety FIRST/M1 GARAND DESTROYED

Gentlemen,
This file speaks on its own. This Video is short to save space. This was taken at SA on one of my trips. What Happened is that someone was trying to fire a dummy grenade WITHOUT the SPECIAL BLANK. It was fired using a STANDARD M2 Ball ROUND. Sometimes you must hit the replay.

My first thought was ouch! Then after thinking of a live round hitting a live grenade, my second thought was serious ouch!

I wonder if the round actually detonated the grenade or if that was just the result of the barrel obstruction?

And then one wonders, what would it do to the rifle if the grenade had detonated on the muzzle, without being shot (no obstruction)?

My dad used to have a military manual (armorers manual?) that had a whole section on catastrophic failures of various firearms. There was a picture of a rifle that looked just like that, with the barrel peeled back like a banana. It was caused by firing with an obstruction in the bore.

I think the keyword alot of you didn't read was it was a DUMMY grenade, so it must have been from the barrel obstruction.... what a waste of a perfectly good garand, If I were president, it would be treason to dessicate an M1 Garand
