So, I did buy the Saiga .308. And I went to longrifleman's place to test it out. It grouped very well. 1 1/2 moa @ 100 yards was the best group.

Fantastic gun, and I can deal with a Monte Carlo stock. But, I'll probably get the Dragunov. (I think longrifleman is gonna have to get one now too)

I love mine

It's only been to the range once. I was impressed with the accuracy and handling. I had low expectations because of the AK platform.

It's a keeper.

How did you like the trigger?
If you get the Dragunov style stock, the looping trigger pull geometry isn't nearly as objectionable. (I have one of each, and really don't mind the trigger on the Drag but it is far more awkward with the sporter stock..)

Actually, I don't get what people are talking about on the trigger. The trigger to this Saiga is absolutely fantastic for an AK based glorified hunting rifle.

This weapon will be an "all around" gun.

Pull wasn't heavy at all.

mordechai let me try the rifle and I thought the trigger was decent. It had a typical new rifle feel. It should wear in, but some polishing would probably help it. It is perfectly usable as it is. Pull wasn't heavy for a general purpose semi-auto, but I would prefer a lighter pull if I was going hunt with it. The break was sharp enough, but not target quality. Accuracy is good enough to justify scoping, if desired.

The sights were typical AK, but perfectly usable. Nowdays it's my eyes that are the limiting factor with irons. The stock fit my eye to the irons, and lop was good for me. It might have been a bit short for mordechai.

Overall, a very good rifle for the money. I did have to add this to my want list. My wife is thrilled.
