Saiga vs. SKS

I have both (and think everyone should). Given current prices I'd buy a new Saiga and start shopping pawnshops for 'hard luck' buys on an SKS. The days of gunshow $80 Yugos may be past, but you can still find 'em for a decent price if you're not in a hurry.

The STG-2000 is a WASR under a different name and importer.

I keep hearing that and after reading the Shotgun news article, I have to disagree. I need to find my Feb edition of Guns and Ammo and read their review.

I don't think it is a WASR under a different kit. That is internet speculation that some dude started somewhere.

The ones on the I.O. Inc website are now listed at $549.00... It might be just a good buy that a lot of folks are laughing at because it came into the market cheap. I used to hear the same crap about CZ... They were cheap when they first came into market, like $299 late 90's early 00's and now the price is $440 or so.

I won a Stg 2000. The total package is much better than the WSAR. Both guns start at the same Romanian plant. But I.O. is doing a better job converting them, and putting in the required parts.

My only complaint about the Stg 2000 is you can't use any of the standard fitting AK fore end parts. So you better like the fore end as it comes.
