My uncle was a big gun guy in the 70's and 80's. He liquidated his extensive collection and gave me a choice between a .243 Sako and a .308 Sako to take as a gift. Both came with Leupold scopes.

I chose the .308. I know the gun has to be at least 30 years old. I am curious to discover the approx value of my gun. Based on the Sako website pics, I believe it is an 85' Classic S.

The gun is in excellent condition and I have taken good care of it over the years.

Any idea on what this gun might be worth? I don’t see myself ever selling this gun because of the fact that I think it should stay in my family as a pass down. I am just curious of the value.

i'm not a sako fanatic - only sakos i've ever had i eventually sold. but, i would say if the rifle is in great condition it is probably worth around $800 - $1,100.

scope is kind of a wildcard. if it is a leupold varix-2 friction adjust, there's little value there. if it is a long tube m-8 fixed-4 or fixed 3-power, it seems most folks are paying a premium for those scopes over what i think they are worth (i feel the old m-8's warrant a $100 price tag but have seen plenty sold in the low-$200 range). if the scope is a varix-3, then it is worth more... like a said, the scope is really a wildcard, here.
