Anybody had occasion to have to call on customer service for Sako rifles here in the USA? If so, what was your experience? Did they treat you well?

Regards,
Stubb.

I can't answer your question, but they might not even have customer service in the US, I've never heard of one needing anything at all.

I only own 1 by the way, an old AIII, that like all the others I know of has never needed anything.

I don't have an issue and I don't have a Sako... yet. Making inquiry before plopping down a bucket of cash for a rifle, *just in case*. :)

It's been nearly ten years since I called Beretta looking for a trigger assembly mounting screw for a Sako Finnfire Hunter and 2 new mags for my new rifle. They were very helpful and took the time to find one for me - just the screw and it wasn't in the catalog/computer as a single part that they could sell.

I needed the screw because there was a man in Louisiana with a new Jewell trigger he'd sell me if he could get the screw to remount his original trigger. He'd modified the one he had.

Turned out he had 2 Jewell triggers for a Finnfire so I bought them both since they'd been discontinued.

Beretta imports Sako's and has head quarters in Accokeek,Maryland and a repair faucility in Pocomoke,Md..

No USA experience. I know in Canada it's ****e. Mag problem with a new A7. Couldn't get anyone in the CS dept to respond so I end up driving to their location. Not welcoming at all!
Having stiff bolt issues as well (.300wsm). As it turns out the retailer I purchased it from took the rifle back and sent it to Stoeger (Sako's contact here) themselves two weeks ago. They said to not be in any hurry to get it back. Maybe by Christmas.
Here's how I see it. You pay a new rifle price for a refurbished one that you have to wait to use. Becoming typical for some other big names as well.

cheers,

Stubb;

I had an issue with a Tikka, which is made by Sako, & contacted Beretta about it. I was told to send it to their warranty station, which if I remember correctly, was Missouri Gun Works. In the future, I'll pay my gunsmith to attend to any further issues. I don't need or like rude, slow, expensive, and useless.

I hear ya! I 'thought' I was treating myself to a quality rifle and I am sure most of them are. I too have no time for the arrogant treatment I received when having issues with one of their firearms that was 'supposedly' checked by the manufacturer. Two of my shooting buddies happened to be with me when I dropped into their office for a mag replacement. I can confidently say neither of them will be purchasing a Sako anytime soon either.
Maybe they are trying to get out of the firearm business:confused:

Well nuts. I had hoped to hear something else, and so for now I will delay the purchase of a new Sako.

Don't let internet BS stop you from getting one of if not the best production rifles made today. :banghead:

That would be the smart choice, take your time. Sako does make excellent rifles as do a lot of firearm manufacturers. Just sharing my personal experience in dealing with their CS.
True, there is the old saying of 'don't believe anything on the internet'. To a certain degree I agree however you will find there are loads of sites on the internet that speak to this very topic. Browning, Kimber, Sako (aka Beretta, Benelli, Stoeger, Franchi) make some very fine firearms yet their CS seems to suffer. You will also find very few Sako's actually get returned so one doesn't have to deal with their crappy CS as often. I simply ended up with a lemon.
Savage had somewhat of a bad rap years ago yet today their rifles stand with some of the best in the world. Not as pretty, but strong and accurate. Their CS is reportedly excellent.
Remington has been getting a bad rap lately too yet my latest model 700 purchase is excellent. Lets hope I don't have any issues with it as I hear their CS is not great either.
New Marlins (Remlins) have also suffered due to quality control issues. I purchased a new Remlin and can advise I spent 60plus hours polishing and removing tool marks etc in order to make this thing work like an original JM Marlin rifle. Shortly after I did find an original JM Marlin and there is no comparison in quality.

Bottom line, you won't know what ya got until ya got it!!

I've never needed Sako customer service, but have been absolutely thrilled with my Sako 85 in 6,5x55. I also wondered about customer support before I bought it, but couldn't find anyone here in Finland who had had a poor experience with a Sako, unless we're counting missed shots on game :)

The only thing I read on the internet that concerned me was the Sako 85's "lack of controlled feed", as spun by Chuck Hawks. Now I can't see what all the excitement was about. My Sako cycles round perfectly, when upside down, on its side, etc., and I've never had any feeding issues. Just pure, silky bolt action. :)

Sako tends to treat their 'dealers' a bit better than the general public, I know, it should not be this way but...
You may benefit from taking your rifle to a dealer and letting them deal with the big 'S' lol
We have had good reports from our Sako customers all along, however, as with any of the mainstream firearm manufacturers, it seems quality AND customer service has taken somewhat of a downturn as of late.
