SAKO rifle kaboom

There is a comment on www.accuratereloading.com that the problem was that to increase production of the rotoforged barrels they changed lube for the process which caused microcracks in the barrel. At least Sako is dealing with the problem.

I've never seen a Sako with a "fluted" barrel. Guess the dealers just haven't had any when I was in. Haven't seen any in articles yet, either

I have a Sako Finnlight, in .308, with a fluted barrel. I don't know if they all came that way, or it was only in some. I also have a stainless Sako in .338 winmag. I will be calling customer support before my next trip to the range.

I'm not an inexperienced shooter, really, but it's amazing when you see the pressures our firearms handle with every round.

You don't realize what 30k or 40k CUP really can do until you see it unleashed...

Man, and I just got myself a new Tikka T3 stainless (non-fluted barrel). Guess I'll be contacting Beretta support before i go back to the range. I've only had 30 or so rounds through it right now. :banghead: this is scary.

Ok, so I just got off the phone with a lady from the Beretta customer service who was handling recall questions..(1-800-503-8869) gave them my rifle serial number. Apparently my .308 Win is not from the batch of supposedly bad ones..

Now, I'm not sure whether to believe her, or not - (this is my paranoid side speaking). I'm assuming that despite their moronic PR attempts at not publicizing the barrel blowups, they would not actually lie to me on the phone. Would they??

I'll be taking the gun to the range this weekend, to finish putting some 30 more rounds through it. I'm considering wearing stormtrooper armor. What bothers me about this whole situation is that a week before I bought this gun, i did a lot of research, and heard nothing but good things about Tikka (and Sako). Now I'm bummed that my first centerfire rifle (a.k.a. real gun) couldbemaybe still under investigation for metallurgical failure.. :cuss:

Not that I'm trying to sound negative and all, ya know..? :(

I wouldn't worry about it, Spalit. If your gun's barrel wasn't on the recall list you should be fine. I'd just forget about it and enjoy your fine rifle. I haven't let the recall detract from enjoying my T3.

One of the recalled guns[in europe] was replaced with another gun which unfortunately was on the recall list also. That one kaboomed and injured the shooter !!!

Don't know about our friend's at Accurate Reloading , but desides all being Sako/Tikka, anyone else notice a common element was the new Federal ammo?
