I'm thinking of purchasing a semi-auto rifle in .762 X 39mm. Which would be better a SAM 7 or a VEPR K ? Or is there something better than these?

Either should do well. In my experience the VEPR is more accurate, especially if you go with 5.56 instead. The Arsenal is my personal choice. It is accurate enough (most groups are around 3" at 100 yards) and dead reliable. The main reason that I got rid of my VEPR was that it was poorly balanced. But still, reliable accurate as all hell. Routinely shot 1.5 inch groups at 100 yards.

They are both excellent rifles. I previously owned a VEPR II, and currently own a SA M7. The VEPR costs less, but the SA M7 will have better resale. The VEPR will be heavier towards the muzzle. If you want an AK with authentic looking AK furniture, the SA M7 is the way to go. If you don't mind Robinson's big ugly furniture, it is probably the most gun for the money.

SA M-7 here ----the more true "AK" of the two-----but have been eyeing that long heavy barreled VEPR in the shop----who knows----maybe I'll have one of each before long.
