I submitted an order for a SKS from Samco on Monday night. I called Tuesday to confirm the order. I had to call two different phone numbers several times before someone picked up. English wasn't good at all. After I successfully told them what the zip code and name was on the order, they said they haven't had anything in their system yet and the person who handles the internet stuff isn't around.

call back yesterday, same song and dance......call back today, the woman who answers says most of the people at Samco are at some gun show in Kentucky this week and told me to call back Monday or Tuesday next week.

***. This is the last time I deal with mail order crap. That Yugo SKS may be unissued and have matching #'s and all but I'll be about 80 years old before it finally arrives. Definetly avoid this place since they are just some low level middle men who don't give a rat's ass about customer service.

how can you run an operation and not have people taking orders or have access to their computer systems?? That is beyond me.

I have ordered from Centerfire in the past with no problems. Cabela's also carries the Yugo SKS for $229.

Cabelas?? I dont see any SKS listed on their website. I live in VA so there is no Cabelas near me.

I'm looking for an unissued with matching #'s SKS. Samco was the cheapest for $265 but now I see it was better to dish out the extra $$$ and buy from someone who can deliver without hassle.:banghead:

I couldn't get the Cabela's website to show it either. I called the closest store about 200 miles away to see it they had them in stock.

f' this...I'm going to order from Centerfire systems. I'll call my credit card company and have them block any charges made by Samco....trying to call them and tell them to cancel my order will probably result in them charging me for 10 guns lol so best to have the credit card company block anything coming from Samco. Never buying jack from them, even if it's the lowest price around.

Hmmm, never had much of a problem with Samco. The phone chica isn't the most helpful, and yes, they do attend shows (as do a lot of other small operations), they might not have the slickest computer/inventory system, but then again, if you want that, you can always go to walmart- You'll never find walmart closed down because they are at a major gun show or NRA convention(BTW, you do know that the NRA convention is this week, and I can pretty much surmise that Samco is there- they had a few representatives and a lot of wares there last year and they look like a family operation), but then again you can't buy a SKS, Swedish sniper rifles, or .303 ammo from Walmart either.

One of the smaller C&R dealers can be downright surly but offer some of the best condition pieces that you'll ever find, the biggest importer/wholesaler really doesn't care whether you can get through to order from them or not and carries some of the lowest quality/condition merchandise, and many of the middle sized C&R dealers are just selling the stuff from the biggest importer, but with better service.

Sometimes a little patience goes a long ways. I find it funny that people will jump through all of the hoops and hurdles set in place by the BATFE to get the 'priveledge' of ordering C&R stuff but then trash dealers because the dealers aren't prompt or available, or easy enough to deal with.

samco

i am about an hours drive from samco...i wanted to go and pick up four sks's....i tried for six weeks to get an appointment, and finally gave up...i bought an ak from classic arms instead....gpr

I have religously dealt with AIM and only go to Samco for things AIM doesn't have.

AIM is prompt with great and friendly service and I've always been very satisfied.

I have dealt with Samco twice. My experience two years ago was the same as the original poster. It took several phone calls and, if memory serves, about a month before I got my order. The woman with the harsh english is hard to deal with. I just put in an order this week and have not been charged and don't expect the order will even be processed for a couple weeks.

I've learned to be patient. And, I won't even be home for many many many months to enjoy these new rifles. Why? Because I'm in Iraq.

I find it interesting, humorous, and sometimes just annoying when people gripe about trivial things: my coffee doesn't have enough cream in it; it's too warm in here at 80 degrees, turn on the A/C; I'm so sick of traffic; what's taking our waiter so long?; blah blah blah.... I've mostly just learned to either ignore peoples' complaints or just give them a pass because they don't know the meaning of the word patience. In a way, it's ironic for me to even be commenting that I am annoyed by someone else complaining...

My advice is to just be patient. What's a month in the grand scheme of life? You'll get your stuff, you'll clean it up, shoot it, and then put it in the safe where you'll forget about it for 3 years. Afterall, the reason they can offer such great deals on C&R guns is probably because they have low overhead on service.

to be fair to Samco, the guy I called yesterday told me to fax my order in and he would process it. BUT I didnt have access to a fax yesterday.

they make it very hard to complete an EASY transaction. That's the gripe. And what if my rifles comes as not advertised. Man, I would have to deal with returning it to them and who knows if they are going to take a long time to refund my money.

I would say, if you have time to spare, order from them. If not, skip these people and look elsewhere. So that's what I'm doing.
