good evening guys . Am loading for .222 rem using ww case 20.5 grain of reloader 7 cci 400 primers with a 50grain seirra bliztking what i was wondering was if i was to switch to a 50 grain nosler bt or a 50 grain hornady v max how safe would it be to stick with the same charge of 20.5 r7 or would i need to work up charge again to be on the safe side. You are at least a grain under MAX according to Lyman.
But according to Hornady, you are already 0.6 grains over max with a 50 grain V-Max.

I would work up again.
But I would start with something besides Reloader-7 this time.

There are several common powders that will give you 200 - 300 FPS more velocity and as good or better accuracy.

I'd look at IMR-4198, H-322, H-335, BL-C2, and WW-748.

I load for the 222 and have used many different bullets and powders to get the perfect round.RC is correct. Work back up.Different brands have different alloy amounts in the copper which could affect friction resulting in different pressures.I use Hornady #4,748 primers,CCI SR Mag primers and a Hornady 55 grain SP w/cannulure. My rifle is a Remington 700 BDL. What rifle are you using? Byron

hello bryon im using a cz 527 varmint . Sure would like to get my hands on a remmy 700 know where there is a 700 varmint in 222 heard they are very accurate .wj

As others have said agreeing with the manuals, you should rework up your loads any time you change components. Different brand bullets have different properties, mainly different amount of bearing surface in the barrel which changes resulting pressure. Loads in the manuals for a specific bullet will give you the best performance accuracy and velocity wise.

WJ, my 700 is the Classic with standard barrel.The 222 just seems to work in about any barrel,heavy or standard. Put and entry on the rifle for sale or buy on THR looking for a 222 Remington 700. Byron
