Here is a sample letter I wrote to my Representatives, Senators, and Congressmen. Feel free to copy, modify, and use it however you like, and, use it OFTEN!
It has come to my attention that President-elect Barack Obama has proposed or supported a great measure of anti-gun legislation, including, but not limited to, the banning of all handguns, the banning of all semi-automatic firearms, and a federal law forbidding the right-to-carry on a national level. As a United States citizen, this causes me great concern when I consider the men who gave or risked their lives to preserve the freedoms that have been granted to all. Those men penned the Second Amendment to the Constitution of the United States which states that “…the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.” The aforementioned anti-gun legislation is an infringement on our Second Amendment rights and must not be tolerated.
As a voter, and, more importantly, a United States citizen, I strongly urge you to uphold the Constitution of the United States by not supporting any law that would compromise our Second Amendment Rights, or our ability to defend ourselves and our nation. Thank you, sir, for your service to the State of ________ and our country.
