San Antonio theater shooting averted

Naw, but when it came out on the news here, they acted like it was a mass shooting.

For the record, the guy was distraught because of a failed relationship with a female employee, and he decided to just start shooting at everything and everybody. He worked at a chinese restaurant in the same strip mall as the theater, so thats why the moviegoers were targeted, just because they were there.

NO AR-15 involved by the way.

That may be another reason why it wasnt in the national news.

News media is a for-profit entity. As such, they know what does and does not sell to us consumers.
They do not necessarily provide a service to our nation and our communities. To the contrary, their integrity and morality are superficial, at best.
To wit, one fatal subway shove gives promptly gives rise to another via media glorification. And looking back to Sandy Hook, Matt Lauer should be held accountable for comments as to the "bar being raised" in reference to head count. But we consumers keep watching the news and in turn continue to be exploited by that excercise of the 1st Amendment.

Good thing that the theater job was only a part time position for the off duty officer, She'd probably get fired for having a weapon and using it to save the other patrons.

Yeah, I have no love for the media either,

What makes me wonder a bit on that shooting is, the south side of San Antonio, is notorious for violent crimes. Not a single patron though, had a concealed weapon or weapon of any kind, except the deputy. Kinda says something about everybody would be safe if we took "assault rifles" off the street, huh?

Oh yeah, he was struck 4 times and survived, and the deputy had used almost all her ammo in the shootout.

The sheriff's dept. guys all work part-time doing some sort of security work or escorting funerals, so yeah, they are pretty much on duty 24/7.
So being armed all the time is no big thing.
As little as they get paid, part time work is the norm.

So as the NRA said, Good guys with guns stop Bad guys with guns.

This is not just law enforcement but CCP also...

I know some people will say that this only worked because she was a deputy, but the fact is most police officers don't get much official training. Heck, I'm in the army and I still do more shooting on the weekends or IDPA than I do in training.

No reason an adequately trained civilian couldn't have done just as well.

Still, this event will get people thinking. People, we need to help shape the national discussion. Mention this at work, email it to people, put it on facebook or something.
