I'm new here
and I'm looking to build my first 1911.
Looking at Sarco because there inexpensive and if I mess up, it would be better it on a cheap frame then a $300.00 one !!
Any way my ? is has anyone used any of Sarco 1911 frames or slides before ?
How did they turn out ? Any pic's of what you got from them and and finshed ones would be great !! :D
Are they good, bad or :barf: ?
How is the finsh on the frames when you get them ?
Is Sarco easy to deal with , and do they ship quick ?

Try an Essex for your first build, they are typically pretty decent with pin holes in the right place and things like that. Cost is pretty darn reasonable too.

I don't know anything about the Sarco frames, but I do know that building on less than a decent frame is a LOT harder than building on a good frame. Identifying and fixing the problems that you can find on a lot of 1911 frames out there is what seperates the men from the boys IMO. It isn't always easy to identify the real problem and it can be a nightmare to straighten it out. Start out with a reasonable quality frame.

I think the Sarco ($79?) frames are made by Armscor, the same people that make the RIA and it's the same frame used on the STI Spartan. They're cast, and are made to standard 1911 specs as far as I know.

I saw those too and thought I might get a couple!

by a company with over a 50 year history of gun manufacturing and a current manufacture of well known 1911's. Made of 4140 steel. Fully machined. We check 'em and the parts just dropped in! Try one and I'm sure you will be back for more! A GREAT VALUE! A GREAT FRAME FOR YOUR 1911 BUILDERS! Choice of blue/black or parkerized finish - Famous Rock Island quality... $79.95, 2 for $149.95 each - GUN012. Extra Special Deal - A frame with a Sarco frame kit... $149.95, 2 for $289.50

just need to get enough time away from work to get my FFl to order me a couple.

I have used SARCOs parts kits many times and each time I built an excellent pistol. Be advised that as of this writing, SARCO is back ordered on a few of the parts included in the kit but will ship the rest of the kit to you and send the back ordered parts when they come in. It generally doesn't take long. I have also used their frames when they were in stock, they are currently out. However, They were good frames and built reasonably accurate guns. There was only minor fitting required. I had to grind out the slot a little further in the mag catch lock slot
