Sarsilmaz Hancer 9mm

IMHO, they are more of a Tanfoglio Witness copy than a CZ copy. I think they are essentially the same gun as the AR-24 as they are both made by the same manufacturer.

I have handled one and shot one. Seems like a decent gun.

Likely very similar - I think Armalite had its own requirements for fit and finish. I don't know if the Hancer is the same or not. Has anyone looked at them side by side in hand (as opposed to pictures)?

Is the Hancer also forged?

They are coming down in price; may have to wander by Academy this weekend. A chap, Dobe by name, posted a number of very articles articles on his experiences with the Sarsilmaz several months ago. He was favourably disposed to the marque.

I have handled the Armalite version, but not the store-brand version.

I fail to grasp the market for these pistols (either privately branded or as Armalites) when I can get a real-deal CZ75B with in-US warranty support for the same price point. They were not as refined as a CZ in any visible measure (fit, finish, trigger pull, etc.)

handled one today

My second in command is also the gun honcho at a Houston area Academy. I went by there this afternoon looking for a carry piece and got a chance to look at a Hancer side by side with a Tanfoglio (probably mispelled!) The private brand looked better to me but not as nice, as to be expected, as the CZ. I don't know how it compares to the Armalite badged gun, but I think the Academy house brand has a price advantage. Also, for us, Briley's on the north side of houston is a warrantee station for the Sarsilmaz. That may be a ditto for the AR24, but I haven't heard.
Did I buy one? No. I'll check out the Pasadena gun show this weekend before deciding.

capttom, as I recall from a visit to the Humble Academy last week, the price difference between the Hancer and the CZ is peanuts - what, $20 or so? Unless there would be significant savings, I would go with the CZ I guess.

Which Houston store does your #2 work at? I frequent the Pasadena, Humble and Channelview (area) stores.

Webster

He's at the Webster store on 45. I hate that place, all the more because it's next door to Fry's Electronics. There's not enough money in the world for me to visit those two stores in the same day.

Thanks for the replies, folks. I think I'll just wait 'til I run across a good deal on a CZ PCR.
