Savage 300 question

I recently inherited a Savage Model 99 in Savage 300. I intend on cleaning it up a bit, sighting it in, and using this deer season. My question is related to preferred ammo for this gun and this purpose.

I note several different manufacturers making several different types (160 vs. 180 grain, 2630 fps vs. 2350 fps, etc.). Figuring a 75-200 yard range, what ammo should I be using to fill my freezer this year?

.300 Savage is very similar to the .308 Win. and will perform similarly with a given bullet. 150-165 are the best bullets for this intermediate cartridge. It'll push 180's, but they suffer a bit.
