OK, stupid question, but, I have tried and I have searched and can't find an answer.
I just picked up a savage 330 O/U made by Valmet 12 gauge F/M if that makes a difference.

I cant seem to get the barrels to separate from the stock. My single shot is easy, remove fore end, break open barrel, push back and up and they come off. Not so with this shotgun. Everything I can find with O/U on the net says it should be this easy, but, it is not coming apart. Is there a special procedure for these? Do I need to release a latch somewhere?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Dave

Well, I figured it out, unlike other break open shotguns, this one has a pivot and pin system, the pivot system actually cocks the hammers when opening the barrels, this may be similar in other O/Us as this is my first one. The bottom line in case anyone in the future is looking for this info.
Is you break the barrel open, tilt them forward all the way, this cocks the hammer and allows the pivot to move freely, then close the barrels back to just before the extractor compresses again, then pretty much lift straight up. This will allow you to align the pins and the pivot and the barrel will separate from the stock.
