Picked up a Savage 745B (Browning A5 clone) in Seattle at a gun "buyback". Had a few cosmetic issues (scratches in the finish on the stock and receiver). Have the stock taken care of and have the rest of it disassembled, cleaned, and oiled up. The only thing left is the finish of the receiver (aluminum). Tried paint remover and the stripper won't touch it. Anyone know how they finished these receivers in the '40s?
