I just got me a brand new- savage 93 .17HMR, on saturday and i had to wait till after the Easter festivities to check it out, so i grab the box and see that bolt is shipped seperately, so i read a little and see all i have to do is push bolt into place, squeeze trigger "firmly" as instructions said, and away i go to the range,, I ran 40-rounds thru it to get it dialed in at 50-yds ,, managed to remove bullseye with last 20-rounds, and thought WOW cant wait to move over to 100 and 200-yard range another day. So i go home and get ready to clean rifle before next range-time and now the bolt WILL-NOT come out !!...:cuss:,, it says to push safety "on" and firmly squeeze trigger while pulling bolt back,,, well i dont know what firmly implies, but im sure it dosent mean squeeze it as HARD as you can (which i did),, any ideas ?/ I unfortunatelty bought it from big-box retail so taking it back for them to ship back to savage would mean another 80=mile round trip,,, ANY IDEAS ?? ANYBODY ??

After you have cleared the rifle, you should move the safety forward to the "off safe" position, which reveals the red dot, then pull back on the trigger and slide the bolt out the rear of the receiver. It sounds like you have the safety in the "on safe" rearward position and that may be your problem.

Make sure your rifle is clear and pointed in a safe direction while doing this.

Got-it ,,, THANK YOU !! I thought that was the right-way ( every other rifle i've had was) leave it to me to actually READ the owners manual,, The manual says to place in "safe" position, i was gonna try it in "fire" position but was too chicken-snot to try it on something brand new,,I have a feeling im gonna buy a couple-more of these, Prairie-dogs BEWARE !
