Hello again.

I have a model 99 Savage that my grandfather left me 11 years ago. I love the gun, as it shoots very well and belonged to my grandfather, but I dislike the sights on it. I can shoot ok with the semi-buckhorn, but I think I could do better.

I would use it more if I could find a good reciever mounted peep sight.

Do any of you know of a setup that would work?

I don't want to have to drill & tap the reciever, but I would if it came right down to it. There are two screws on the tang that I am hoping can be used for some form of pre-fab mounting hardware.

So what do you know about this?

Thanks again.

The two D&T holes in the tang are for mounting a tang sight.

Lyman and Marbles both made tang sights that would fit the 99.

Unfortunately, both were discontinued many years ago and are generally very expensive.

I've got either a Redfield or a Williams on my 1936 99EG, but for the life of me I can't remember exactly where the thing mounts. It MAY use the same holes...

Here it is! Marble Arms NEW tang mounted peep sight for the Savage 1899 and 99 rifle. This sight is new in the package complete with mounting screws and 3 apertures. This sight provides windage as well as elevation adjustment and it will fit the original factory provided tang peep sight mounting holes, NOT the latter scope mount holes.
