Hello,

I am working on a savage 110 LEFT HAND build and am now at the point where i am upgrading the stock. I have been looking night and day for an after market SYNTHETIC stock that comes in left hand and haven't been having much luck.

The only one I have been able to find in my price range (MAX $400) are the Choate stocks. Out of those I do really like the Tactical Stock Sav 110. Are there even any comparable models on the market?

Thanks!

chrome_austex - Thanks for the reference, have you had any experience with either (Choate / Manner) if so does the $150 jump in price really represent that large of an increase in quality?

I gotta vote for the manners too. They make good stuff. The bell carlson medalist is not bad, especially for the price. It may be worth a look, but I am not sure if they do lefty without special ordering.

I use a manners on one rifle. It is a VERY nice stock. i would take it over a choate any day.

I've got 3 Choate stocks- 2 Tactical models(1-LH,1-RH),and a LH Ultimate Varminter. They are great stocks.

Kevin Rayhill at Stockade Guns also makes some nice LH stocks in your budget range.

If you want a laminate stock there are several outlets for them-Stockys Stocks,Richards Micro-fit stocks,Northland Shooters Supply,Sharp Shooter Supply,Numrich gun parts.

I bought this LH factory target stock at Numrich for $169.

And this LH thumbhole at Stockys Stocks. It was unfinished, and so it was a DIY project.

Very nice looking. Yeah it should be said that finishing it yourself is not bad. I have done a couple; they are not showroom quality, but they look plenty nice.

Just had to sand it down and rub some coats of linseed oil on it. Dont let "unfinished" deter you from one you like.

The gun is going to be used for some tactical shooting classes, they shoot out to 800yds, as well as a paper puncher and some whitetail hunting. I have multiple other hunting rifles so I am planning more towards the tactical paper puncher for this gun.

Thanks for the link to the Stockade Gun Store. I really like the idea of buying a stock with some of the extra features like adjustable cheek and but plate and doing the finish myself.

Which one the three is the best for accuracy? (Choate / Manner / Stockade)

I will be glass bedding the rifle after i get the new barrel on it.

Thanks Guys,

Thanks Guys,
Accuracy will all depend on the one pulling the trigger, all of these stocks are good shooting platforms.

I only glass bed a rifle if it needs it,and none of my Choates are.As long as the action fits good in the stock, and nothing is touching or rubbing where it shouldn't,there's really no need unless it's just something you want to do.
Every Savage I have will shoot sub-moa 100 yard groups, and my 223,25/06,and one of my 308's shoot 1/4 moa pretty regular with my handloads.

*Note* If you do glass bed your rifle, don't bed the tang area. It's designed to be floating, and it will really affect accuracy if it's bedded.

Thanks for the advise. I think that the plan will be to do the glass bedding if need be as you stated.
