Gentlemen -

I have a savage model 11 in 308. Been trying several different reloads but thought I would reach out and see if anyone has a similar firearm they have been reloading for. Any PET loads in the savage bolt rifle? I have IMR 4895, Varget and IMR 4064. I also have 150, 165 both hornady sst, and 150 gr core-lokts. Federal primers, and once fired commercial brass out of my rifle. Also lots of 1x fired lc brass.

I'll tag this for reference. I have a .308 savage axis IMR4895 and Sierra matchking 168's and gameking soft point 165 and 150's. I'm assembling rounds for both OCR and Ladder load development methods.

Savage 10FP in 308. 20 inch barrel.

Varget: 41.9 grains + 168 SMK or Hornady Amax. 2.865 OAL.
RE15: 42.2 grains + 168 SMK or Hornady Amax. 2.865 OAL.

I load them pretty light but these are sub .5 MOA at 100 yards. Best way is to do an optimal charge weight test or ladder test and shoot what's best for your rifle.

I just did an OWC test for my Dad's Axis in 308 for his Christmas present. Factory groups were typically 1-2 inches benched at 100. I took it down to consistent .5 inches for 100 yard groups. (barrel heats up pretty quickly and they string)

41.3 grains of varget. 2.840 OAL. (I like to load them light as long as they are still accurate). And that light load is to help my Dad's older shoulder as well.

Model 200 Stevens, pretty much the same set-up as the M-11 Savage. I Shoot a 150 gr. Nosler Accubond with 46 gr. of Varget and it shoots 3/4 MOA. Also the 150 gr. Sierra Gameking with 44.gr. of IMR 3031 will put 3 in 1/2 MOA at 100 yards.

The Lymans Manual shows Winchester 748 powder having great speed and low chamber pressure in the 308 over a 150 grain bullet.. Has anyone tried the WIN 748 Powder?
