Savage extractor kit?

My Savage model 10 has started having trouble extracting fired shells. It will pull them from the chamber and then drop them w/o ejecting them. I have read this is a common ailment with Savage bolts and that there is an aftermarket upgrade kit. Supposed to have a larger detent ball.

Anyone with experience with these? Alternatives? Know where to purchase?

I had the same thing happen to me with a used 110. I contacted savage arms and they sent me the extractor and ejector set free of charge. It fixed it for me. The springs were stronger, and the extractor was sharp and not somewhat dull like my original, was the only differences.

Having said that, I’ve had good luck simply upgrading the ball bearing with a new extractor:

My Axis II stainless in 6.5CM started doing that, failure to extract or eject. I installed the kit from Tactical Works and all has been fine. I upgraded a second rifle with parts from Savage. Both work fine now. 3C
