Anybody run one?
My eyes suck anymore so I won't be competitive enough in NRL22.....even local matches.
Not worth dropping big money to play in Open class.

Figured maybe the MK and a Superchicken 12X would be OK.
I got the scope for a general use across mult rigs......for checking loads.
It'll get moved around and ring marked and I won't care.
But it could end up landing on a kinda sorta target .22 rf.

Now my old 1022 target build (Titan stock w GM bbl ) proly would have been good enough, had I kept it. But I'm not keen on a big scope on that little aluminum receiver.
Too bad I couldnt find an AMT for a donor receiver. That reg 10/22 build was too heavy for a hunter so bye bye it went.

Our local stuff for NRL max's out at 100 yards. Wish the Savage had a synth stock instead of tacticool painted wood.

My reg CZ455 sporter got swapped to synth and I like it.

I could swap in a diff bbl but dunno who makes a decent and decently priced stock should I go that route. The Manners stocked CZs have a good showing at our local matches, as do the Voodoo stuff.

Im content to compete against myself in base class.

I have two MkII’s at home currently - a BSEV which I restocked into a ProVarmint and an FSS which I also restocked for my son into a cut down ProVarmint. The heavier barrel on the BSEV adds stability, and it does stay a little cooler when we’re practicing stages, but both shoot very small. Maybe a better way of saying this is that I’m not terribly convinced any Savage MkII model will be prone to shoot smaller than any other, but some stocks and contours are more “shootable” than others.

I assume you’re looking for a tactical shaped stock, AND I’d have to check the barrel channel to be sure the TR contour would fit, so this may be moot, but if you’re interested, I’d send you the take-off polymer stock from this FSS, just pay the postman.

I couldn't have said it better. It is hard to beat a Savage MkII for accuracy, especially for the price. Even my old used and abused Savage made Springfield Model 120 is a great shooter.

My left hand MkII BTVLSS is very accurate for me at 100 yards and closer. I haven't pushed past that yet. I did swap out the Boyd thumbhole stock that the BTV models come with. The comb was just too low for me to get a good cheek weld. I am currently using a Rhineland Arms Leopard stock but that thing is a heavy hunk of walnut. I'm thinking about getting the Rigid Alloy SRF chassis for it. Being a left handed model, chassis stocks are very limited for the MkII.

I know people have different idea on whats accurate.

For me being a lowly piney slayer, i want sub half inch at 50 yards w match ammo.

My GM heavy taper 19" on a 1022 w Volq trigger would do it. But only w SK Rifle Match. It did not like 3 or 4 other match ammos and shot reg CCI Minimag, std V and Win Super X and other medium quality ammo......same as non target rigs.

It did go .4 at 50 yards for 5 shots w a 12x scope and rear bag, front bipod. The goal was sub .5 for low budget. It did it.

I expect, demand even, that any heavy bbl
22rf do at least .5 at 50, and shoukd be better.

Add.....found two bricks of SK rifle match local. Paid 75 a couple yrs ago. Now they want 90 a brick.

Ouch!

Here is a 5 shot group at 50 yards with my Savage BTVLSS. I did not make any adjustments or use any type of hold over when shooting at 50 yards with a 25 yard zero. I also didn't make any adjustments for wind either. I was using a cheap Caldwell front rest.
