Savage Mk-II FVSR, Boyd's Tacticool stock, DIP 25 MOA base and bottom metal, Burris Xtreme 30mm rings, Mueller 4.5-14 All Purpose Tactical scope, Harris bipod, Butler Creek sling:

I haven't shot anything with a magnified optic in over a decade, and that was a cheap pellet gun. Here is my best 50 yard 5-shot group of the day, off the bipod with Blazer bulk pack:

Obviously (looking at the other groups) the ammo wasn't terribly consistent, and I wasn't either, but the potential is there. I am impressed.

Congrats on the FV-SR.

Its hard to find now, of course, but many of us FV-SR shooters prefer the CCI standard velocity rounds. Very accurate for the price. While some of the Federal, Wolf, and Ely will shoot a little better, the CCI SV is hard to beat. :D

The Blazer was accurate enough, but inconsistent. It was a bit worse with the Fiocchi. The big surprise of the day was that it didn't like CCI mini mags at all; shots were all over the place, and my best 50 yard groups were around an inch. The worst groups looked like buckshot.

I will have to try the CCI SV's. I've heard good things about Wolf Match Target in these rifles as well.

Of course, the trick these days is finding it in stock.

I changed the stock to a boyd's laminate stock before even getting a few hundred rounds fired and shooting for serious groups. Not sure how tight it would shoot box stock.

Feed it some better ammo and it will cut those groups in half or more. Mine with wolf rifle match will shoot around 3/8 at 50 yards. Federal 922a is a bit better and can shoot 3/8 or a bit better but can give a flier. It is a ammo thats loaded buy RWS. RWS r-50 will do .300 most any time and fliers go away. Yet your allways at the mercy of that lot of ammo.

You may need to shoot a 250 to 500 rounds to break that barrel in. Watch that some low lube or no lube bullets don't lead the bore. I don't shot copper plated ammo ether.

Mine has a 6-24 scope, that may offer a bit better groups.

I like this target as it gives a 1/4" center dot. For me the smaller the dot the tighter I can hold too. - http://mytargets.com/target22 circles x20.pdf

I have some others that have a 1/8" reds dot only. Good at 25 yards and 50 with enought scope.

I know with a scope change those FV-SR's will shoot sun 1 inch at 100yards if fed good ammo.
