So i saw the ad for this rifle, i went into the store to fondle her. They dont have it in stock so i would have to order it.

Through google, this basically doesn't exist, so maybe you guys know a little about her.

I was quoted $380-$400 for the rifle.

info in the flyer says:

Savage Model 10FCP
-.308 Win
-22'' blue heavy matte finished fluted barrel
-detachable box mag
-adjustable accutrigger
-dual pillar bedding and oversized bolt handle
-brown digital camo stock

This is pretty much for the range exclusively. I am new to long range rifles and scopes.

For the money it sounds like i get alot...But what do i know

4 round capacity, light weight, handy and an absoulte tack driver. I've been shooting Savage rifles for years and to me are the most gun for your money anywhere. Sadly their prices keep creeping upward as others are starting to find out about their outstanding out of box accuracy. If you can get that gun at that price jump on it. A good example is I bought a 111 in 30-06 in 2001 for 239.00 bucks out the door now that same gun is selling for over 400 bucks in most places. Go to Savagearms.com for all the specs on that gun.

I shoot the Savage 10 FCP HS-Precision. That is the 10 FCP that comes from the factory with the HS-Precision stock. Mine has a 24", 1 in 10" twist, barrel.

Love the 10 FCP rifle. The "C" in the FCP indicates it has a detachable magazine. In .308 Win, it holds 4 rounds. I have a couple of 9 round custom mags for mine.

Here is my 10 FCP write-up, if you want to read and get some more info on it.

Very nice write-up. Im looking at the site for the extended mags.(Sharp Shooters Supply) Do you have to buy that acme ext mag frame as well?

Sounds like a good deal on a great rifle. I paid $450 for my model 11 270 WSM and it does not have a detachable box mag. I have yet to regret any of the Savages I have purchased over the years.

I have three Savage rifles, 270, 243 and 223. When I pass on they are comming with me (LOL).

The Model 10 FCP for $380-$400 probably won't have the HS-Precision or McMillan stock.

I have the old Savage 110FP "Tactical" and it doesn't have the stock, but it doesn't seem to affect the accuracy.

Mine has the 24" barrel.

I'd go with a Warne Tactical one piece base, and medium Leupold PRW rings or Warne rings. I would go with a 6-20X scope.

Thanks. All I purchased was two of their magazines. They lock right into the factory magazine well on my 10 FCP.

So JC, did you get this rifle for around $400? I'll buy one this weekend if that's the case.

Well, it turns out they cant get me a savage 10 fcp ;(

Im very disappointed.I was in love with the digital camo stock, but im sure i can find one aftermarket, thats nicer than the Plastic ones they use.

His suggestion was the Remington 700 Varmint in .308

-26" Heavy contour barrel
-x mark pro trigger
-Supercell recoil pad
-Mossy oak Brush Camo stock (Vented Beavertail?)

Includes 4x12x40 scope

Alot of reviews i have read points out that they love the rifle, yet replaced the stock with an HS.

Price tomorrow only

$499.00
- $50 rebate
=$450

I dont know anything about the scope it comes with, but I wont get ahead of myself

Skip the Remington...:barf: While their X-mark pro trigger is a vast improvement the build quality of the last two Rem 700s I bought new were horrible, and I won't touch another one until they replace their whole QC staff, they won't cast a shadow on my Savages, or Tikka. Heck my el-chepo Marlin XS-7 was a vastly better rifle then my 700 and my friends at the range all agreed.

Update: today I went to dicks for the last day of their sale. The rem 700 did not have detachable mags so I passed on her.

I have $500 to spend, now I need a substitute.

If you have a local FFL to handle the transfer for usually only around $25...you can shop on-line for guns too. You are not "stuck" with only going to Dick's.
Just sayin'...

I've shopped on-line a few times with good success.

Heck get a Wal-mart special combo model 11 for $386, save the stock rings and scope for a .22 or pellet rifle, top it with a Nikon and now you have a scary accurate rifle on a budget. Two of the Savages I have owned were package guns, they are just as accurate as any of the others.

i upped my budget to $750

Narrowed it down to 3 choices (Never going to dicks again)

-Savage 10FCP-k --> Now...It says it has a detachable box magazine which i need. but grabAgun says "internal box magazine" maybe someone knows the deal

-Tikka T3 Hunter - I read somewhere that with these you have to you special rings or base's or something of the sort. Which wouldn't be a big deal either way.

-REMINGTON 700 TACTICAL VTR- idk whether or not this has internal or detachable box mags

Remington 700 VTR
