what is the difference between a savage 10 or 11 models ?
I was looking at a model 11 with a heavy barrel and camo stock , I thought model 11 was a normal barrel and
model 10 was heavy barrel / bull barrel LE type ?
I am confused
model 12 = stainless barrel
model 11 = ?
model 10 = ?

10s are wood stock, 11s are synthetic? Sound right?....ive got an 11 in .243 and had a 110 in 7mag, besides length that was the only difference.

The Savage 10 (short action) and 110 (long action) are entry level bolt guns. They feature a bolt release up top near the bolt handle and a blind or hinged floor-plate magazine and may or maynot have the pre-accutrigger. Screw spacing changes over generations but that only matters if you are buying a stock.

The 11/111 replaces the afore mentioned and features a detachable box magazine and bottom bolt release.

The target series 12/112 is the same action style as the 10 with the exception of a singleshot benchrest model with a left hand feed port.

The 14/114 is the classic series, sporting nicer wood and finish.

The 16/116 is the stainless and synthetic Weather Warrior series.

They all come in varying configurations in terms of stocks and barrel contours.

Your post was pretty close, but not exactly. The 10/110's basically their "platform"

Effectively, the 10/110 and 12/112 are considered the "standards" for their platform actions. Savage offers in their standard centerfire lines - 2 digit model 10/12's being short action, 3 digit 110/112's being long action, 10/110's blued, 12/112's stainless.

Here's an example of where all bets are off: Savage 110 BA It's effectively their premier precision/tactical model.

I don't know of a hard and fast rule that applies.
I thought I did, but ended up with a model 11 with fancy wood and iron sights...?
