Last fall I started deer hunting. Up until that time I had only been deer hunting. I was and still on a budget. I was able to find a used Savage 110 in 30-06 I got it for 320 out the door. I would have love to get a Howa, Remington, Ruger or Savage from Wall-Mart but they are still not selling guns in CA.

It came with a Simmons 3X9 scope. I have pretty much decide I am going to swap that out with a Bushnell 3200 4X12 or Nikon Monarch 3.5X10 but no one has the Nikons locally so I have not been able to take a look at one. :banghead:

What do you guys think og these pre-fitted recoil pads. http://www.midwayusa.com/rewriteaproduct/206784

The trigger is the standard trigger. It is very heavy. Is there an aftermarket trigger that I could install myself or is this best left to the pros. Which one should go with. Because this is a hunting rig I need the safety to function.

I have heard so many good things about Tally rings and bases I think I am going to go that way because I don't know any better.

I know I could got most of this out of the box when I bought it if I would have got a Tikka but I did not have the money at the time.

One more thing I know it will never fail me but does any one make a steel trigger guard.

And if it matters this is one of the Savage's that Savage will not longer work on. It is one of the older models.

I had fun last season but all we saw were tracks and deer we could not shoot becasue they were in Yosemite where we were camping.

Thanks for your time and input.

I didn't know Wal-Mart didn't sell guns in the PRK. Geez, you guys have it bad :p.

Don't know about the prefitted recoil pads. The new Savages have that AccuTrigger with the blade safety in the middle of the trigger - too bad you couldn't get one of those.

Any time outdoors is good time. :)

Any thoughts on the trigger and recoil pad.

Thanks

I bought one of the Pachmayr "prefitted" decelerator pads for my BDL. It was prefitted only in the sense that it fit the stock butt better than it fit anywhere else on the rifle.

Any thoughts on the trigger......

Head over to the Sharpshooter's Supply Website adn take a look at not only the trigger types they list but well EVERYTHING they list :) mihgt just find something you can't live without...

also you might want to go over to SavageShooters.com and take a look around visit the forums etc.

Detritus and Quack, thanks for the links on trigger adjustment and replacement.

I have a Savage 10GL in 30-06 on the way that I payed $270 for. If it needs trigger tuning or replacement, you guys supplied me with what I need.

Thanks.
