OK........ Save me here..... save me from being one of those folks with a $400 box of holsters that don't get used!!

Here is what I have and here is what I need........ I'm calling on personal experience from everyone out there. This is for concealed carry.

Sig P239

I have a Bianchi Model 100 – Professional™ IWB Holster
So far it's OK..... but I can't find the "perfect" spot for hours of carry.
I am guessing if I got jeans one inch bigger in the waist it would make a world of difference??

This gun carries fine in my SigTac coat. (Awesome coat BTW)

Sig P220 Carry

OK... this is one I fell in love with with the shorter slide...... but it is a heavy one and for IWB I'm just not feeling it here. At times I wish I wouldn't have bought it, but it is such a tackdriver and so much fun to shoot that I'll never get rid of it. Plus, I kinda have always been a fan of the 45ACP for SD.
I have NO holster for this one yet. It carries ok in the SigTac coat..... but it's almost like you need a counter balance on the other side! (I know, I know... I'm starting to get the itch for a .38 snubby)

Anyway....... here we go. I need real world advise from the mistakes you all have made in holster buying. Pass your knowledge on to me if you would.

I usually wear my shirts untucked...... especially in the summer. I guess I am starting to wonder if I might use an OWB holster more.
Are there some good OWB holsters that would tuck these guns in close to me so as not to print to bad..... AND be comfortable....And a loose shirt would cover them up just fine? I like good quality leather but I don't want to spend big $$ on some custom job.
It gets kinda overwhelming looking at holster selections........ my eyes start to spin and they all start looking the same. My main concern is to get a good holster so that I can start to carry the P220C more often. If I find an awesome OWB holster for it, I am guessing I can get the same model to fit the P239. I guess some of your advise on any good belts you've found work the best would be appreciated too.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions......

JP

If you just have 2 guns, you'll be fine. Buy any more and you'll be cursed. Probably need an IWB and an OWB (or paddle) for each gun you carry.

Mistakes I've made are buying cheap. Fobus, Uncle Mikes, etc. I'd have less if I had only bought quality stuff.

Sig P239: First off, definitely get slightly larger jeans. Makes a world of difference. Second, you might consider a Don Hume leather IWB. I forget the model I have, but it was a quite nice, quite comfortable, and rather inexpensive leather holster that allows easy reholstering. I happens to also fit a CZ P-01 (which is what I carry in it at the moment). The only drawback is that it's a metal-clip design, which might not be to your liking.

Rumble, what you describe is Don Hume's H715M clip-on IWB. I have a bunch of these. I get one for every gun I carry, with the exception of revolvers (I can't stand to carry revolvers IWB). These are very high quality/low cost holsters. Easily the equal of Galco. They also market an IWB with belt loops, similar to the Sparks Summer Special. I'm a big fan of their OWB, either the 720 or 721, can't remember off-hand the right model, but one is a paddle, the other is OWB.

Besides quality holsters, you MUST have a quality belt to support the weight of a pistol all day. A belt made for CCW will be stiff enough to distribute the weight of the pistol evenly around your waist. I've found the gear and service from Jim at www.thebeltman.net to be beyond excellent. I've just ordered and received my second belt from them and will continue to add to the collection.

"two will do" and OWB concealment.

The general rule for IWB holsters is to buy your pants two inches large than you normally do. Try some on in a fitting room to see what fits, then buy the same pants two inches larger in the waist. If you've already done this, go for thre inches. Two is a guideliine, everybody is built different.

The biggest factor in carrying OWB is butt concealment. The pistols, not yours. A holster with a belt slot aft of the handgun will pull the butt into your side better and slim the profile greatly. I prefer holsters with belt slots fore and aft, some have had very good results with a tunnel behind the gun and a slot aft.

*** Does having a forward cant help a lot with "butt concealment"?

cant and concealment.

Yes, a foreward cant will help with concealment. It puts the handgun butt closer to the centerline of the holster and reduces the "stick out" factor. The F.B.I. discovered this when designing holsters to carry large frame revolvers back in the day. That's why it's also called "F.B.I. cant".
