Like many on this Forum, I can barely sleep thinking about the destruction of our planet from Global Warming and running out of space in landfills.

Fortunately, I discovered that I can reduce my carbon footprint and limit my landfill utilization by recycling vintage Jostam pads on to my favorite shotguns.

I know it is enormous sacrifice, but I felt I had to do my part.

Recycling....

Good work on the 870. The blond finish is beautiful. I bought a Rem 870 Express about 5 or 6 years ago with that dark finish they use to put on and after cutting it down I recycled my original recoil by using it and I ended up refinishing the entire stock and to my surprise it came out looking like a beautiful laminated stock. A couple of years ago Rem started to do this on all their 870 Express guns. All those refinishing jobs look great and thanks for sharing. Just watch out for all those carbon footprints out there...

I am glad that so many like the blonde look.

It's just a lot of stripping, sanding and Tru-Oil.

Frank Vallone of Sycamore Hill Designs is now cutting a simple checkering pattern into the grip.

I am a real sucker for a well cut blonde with the right padding

P.S. It was rather hard to get the old stain out of the blonde wood. I do not think I was able to get it all out, but I still like it.
