Another reason to carry 24/7. If you had had a sidearm, you could have at least broken the chain like that. Would have gotten the police there much faster, too, if it didn't manage to break the chain.
I share this all with you guys just so nobody else makes this mistake.

Those of you who laugh - it's ok. I won't take offense.
I wouldn't lose too much sleep worrying about that. I'm guessing this one will be all yours! The Economist said:I share this all with you guys just so nobody else makes this mistake.
I'm hoping they were at least plain boxers and not like... Spiderman prints or something. Because that would have been just weird.
I am glad you are O.K. but why in the world would you post this on a public forum like that? The "public service announcement" reason you gave makes no sense. I am fairly sure that very few of us would ever consider cuffing ourselves to anything. If it turns out that some of us here had considered it but now decided against it due to your post, I stand corrected.
Again, I am glad that this did not turn out any worse for you. I am guessing you will be getting a bill for the damaged door if nothing else and I promise you that you are now on some unofficial list of local kooks with the police department.
So he says, "Ok, we're going to have to break down the door then to get in."
