The price was $1097. Is that the most expensive single item in Walmart? With TVs and Computer prices dropping I think it might be. I understand that they are selling these guns because people are buying guns but based on my knowledge of Walmart I have to ask myself why they are carrying Sig rather than one of the less expensive models. Walmart is better known for being low priced rather than high quality so I would think DPMS maybe.

My understanding is that Wal-Mart prices their firearms at near dealer cost. I could be wrong but that's what I heard.

If you have an immediate family member working at Walmart you get an additional 10% off. Family discount card. Applies to firearms as well. At least at my local store here in San Antonio.

None of the Wal-Marts in North Florida that I've been to sell handguns at all, and only about half of them deal in rifles, shotguns, and ammo.

I was in one today (Elizabethton) and saw one called a Windham. I had never heard of this brand before.

Windham Armory is the Phoenix from the ashes of Bushmaster after Cerberus bought it. Windham Armory is Bushmaster.

You might be better served burning your money than using it to purchase a Sig Rifle made in America.

My Walmart here in San Antonio had a Colt and a sig for $1087. They just began selling AR's a couple of weeks ago. Now if they could only keep 223 or 5.56 ammo in stock I would be happy.

WalMart does not sell gunat most stores in Virginia anymore. The only stores I've seen guns at ,were Salem and Woodstock.Walmart will not tell me which stores carry guns.I just happened to be in those store and saw the guns for sale.Thats a good price on that SIG.I saw one at the gunshow for 1300 over the weekend.

I'll bet that somebody in Wal-Mart corporate was asking why they couldn't sell Chinese AKs. :D

their website list several notebook cpus higher than that. Don't know about instore.

Also would bet ther have some riding mowes that top that price

Sure, maybe WalMart can negotiate with the Chinese to produce an even cheaper WalMart-only version of the Chinese AK, or, better yet, a Chinese version of the AR.

I have a Sig 556 Classic and it has been a good rifle. They are a little front heavy but their adjustable piston system is fantastic. The early production runs dis have some problems but ones made in the last 3 years have been fine by most owner accounts. There are not alot of accessories available for it though. Anything that is not an AR-based platform seems to get burned at the stake by most people in the US.

They are expensive but now they are priced under $1200 at most places. The Sig 55x series of rifles are "different than ARs" and not really geared toward the same consumer. I would describe the Sig 55x variants more like a very refined AK. If your favorite platform is something besides the AR or Garande, than the chances are pretty good you will like the Sig 55x platform.
