Stopped by a gunshop a few towns over to check out their stock, and saw the following:

1. S&W Victory Model - ser no. V 666,xxx. Looked like a 5" (?) barrel, was a little beat up and mechanically loose. Probably shootable but could use some work. Marked "U S Property" with "G H D" initials (Guy H. Drewry). Also had some initials marked on the backstrap.

2. Listed as a S&W Model 10 but in reality was a .38 M&P Model 1905 4th Change (by the ser no.). Dates to about midway between the two world wars. Finish was very worn but it seemed tight.

It seems like old revolvers are coming out of the closets with alarming regularity. Alarming for my wallet that is!

I have my eye on a transitional 4th change.

I too am noticing really nice old revolvers popping up with surprising regularity. My wallet is begging for mercy too.

Had a guy come into the shop today with a pinned barrel, no-dash Model 60 in good shape, wondering what his gun was worth, as he was looking to sell.

Much as the little demon on my shoulder wanted to lowball him and snag it, I told him that wandering the aisles at the next gun show would net him two seventy-five to three bills fast and easy.

Sucks having a conscience sometimes, especially when you don't have a Model 60 in your collection and a nice one crosses your path... :uhoh:
