Stopped by a gunshop a few towns over to check out their stock, and saw the following:
1. S&W Victory Model - ser no. V 666,xxx. Looked like a 5" (?) barrel, was a little beat up and mechanically loose. Probably shootable but could use some work. Marked "U S Property" with "G H D" initials (Guy H. Drewry). Also had some initials marked on the backstrap.
2. Listed as a S&W Model 10 but in reality was a .38 M&P Model 1905 4th Change (by the ser no.). Dates to about midway between the two world wars. Finish was very worn but it seemed tight.
It seems like old revolvers are coming out of the closets with alarming regularity. Alarming for my wallet that is!
