I shot this a while back with a borrowed gun but I am looking for more info. Does anyone have any good forums for this sport. I am really curious about using a 10/22 in this. I know that Anschutz usually own the one class and cz/kimber/sako are also good. I want to buy a 10/22 anyway and wondered if people use them here. Any info would be helpful on what I could be competitive with.

Good man Jeeper

You have chosen a great sport IMO. It is also one of the most challenging, and one that every rifleman could profit from.
My opinion is that you should use a very accurate rifle/ammo combination from the start. My feeling is that the CZ is a great rifle for the price and should acquit you well. The problem with a rifle that throws a 3 inch group is that you will find yourself chasing misses. If you shoot dead on and miss, you will try to correct for the miss and then miss even further. You want the misses to be your fault not the equipment. That way, if you miss, you know that your hold was less than perfect and simply strive to hold better, not chase misses fruitlessly.
Shooting as well as you can will bring you back for more, and doing poorly because of equipment will surely discourage you. The guys that you are going to compete with are usually veterans of the sport, and you will require time to get your feet under you in the sport, so don't get discouraged, and give yourself time to shoot to your potential.
I LOVE shooting silhouette of any kind. You get the instant feedback of a shot well done, and the pain of a miss instantly also. It has the all the thrill of hunting IMO, except that you get the thrills for 80 rounds if you shoot both hunting rifle and target rifle. One of the most rewarding days of shooting I can imagine.

I shot pistol silhouette for years including taking a few things home at the international championships. I also shot rifle many times with a borrowed anschutz. It is a fun sport. I wanted to do pistol again but the only match in houston is the same day as my favorite USPSA match. Rifle is on a different weekend which would work better. Thanks for the tips guys.

OOPS

Preaching to the choir I guess. Still think I would opt for a rifle up to the task. Pistol inaccuracy not as important, since most pistols are capable of accuracy that will do the job on the larger pistol targets at 100 yds. With the small rifle targets however, you need every bit of help that you can get.
I always shot my best scores with a Browning lever action with a 6x scope, and was really scratching my head. I couldn't figure it out till I went and did some serious tests on the range, and found that the little browning would outshoot the used target rifle that I had tried. Although the Browning is a bit small, I wouldn't trade it for anything.
I have resolved that if I do get back into silhouette, I will try a CZ 452, since I have shot a friend's copy, and find it extremely accurate. Probably won't go for the big bucks Anschutz.

Jeep,
The CZ452 can be made into a real shooter with little outlay of cash. Google "Brooke's trigger job" or better go to http://www.rimfirecentral.com and go to the CZ forum. You will find information there to get the CZ to shoot 1" groups at 100 yards and this will not cost you an arm and leg.

There was an excellent article on turning the 452 into a first class silhouette shooter in the National Silhouette Review. I don't have any issues but to find more info go to www.ihmsa.net and get on the forum. They all know what the newsletter is and they will probably send you the copy.
