SBR AR or Long Range Rig?

If you are anywhere close to some BLM land that is open and hilly you should be able to stretch the legs of a long rang rig. I was near Gunnison last week and was really pushing the limits of my AR and my friend's 700 (.308). It was way more engaging to reach out 1000+ yds than blast away at 10 yds. You should be able to find some public land to shoot pretty much anywhere west of I-25, and of few places east of there too. I'd definitely pull the trigger on a long range rig if I were in Colorado.

Actually an ar10 would be pretty cool, you could get an sbr upper and a long range upper(possibly not 308, maybe 260 rem or 6.5 creedmore). This could be in any order you wanted, but long range first might make more sense to get set up with a lower that has a nice trigger.

What's the wait time on an SBR stamp?

300 AAC you will be rolling your own ammo, BUT you can use 5.56 magazines of all sorts.

AR10 means new mags.

I can hit a target at 600 yards with my 16 inch AR (ok the target was a steel buffalo so it wasn't small) I am not sure what the benefit is of building another 'long range' AR is.. unless you plan for a 24 inch barrel and 77gr + bullets.. which is about as expensive as building a good solid 308 bolt gun.

I am THINKING about a 300 upper for fun, esp. after Hoser gave me a 300 round.

People are being told by the ATF NFA Branch that wait times for recently submitted applications have a 12 month wait time.

+1 on a SBR 300BLK. Use it as a pistol while you wait. If you reload, then ammo is no issue. Throw in a suppressor in there since you're waiting anyway. That will allow you to use the can for both 5.56 and 308 -- 2 birds in one stone.

Otherwise, just buy an AR10 or bolt-action rifle (Rem700 etc) if you don't have the patience.

suppressed SBR is definitely worth the money. very very useful and fun.

long range rig is more of a niche. it's a lot more enjoyable to me though.

Id do the long range esp given your CO location and your newly enacted laws, etc.
