School me, AR build?

Ive never used any lpk that matched up really good to the receiver but figured it was just the difference in finish in steel versus aluminum.

Once you get all the parts together it takes less than an hour to assemble both the upper and the lower. They are really simple.

I bought a DPMS armorers wrench for $30 and got an upper block that you clamp in the vice then pin the upper to for $50. I had the rest of the tools including the torque wrench.

I put together a 300 BLK my first time out. Very cool round. Nearly the same ballistics as an AK. The supersonic rounds would make great pig shooters and if you had a suppressor the sub sonic rounds would be fun too.

The only problem with building one is they can be addictive. And those little parts are only 50 here and a 100 there with a few more costly parts in between. Then you finish your project and add up the cost and it is breathtaking!

Building an AR is to gunsmithing what macaroni and cheese is to cooking. Anyone can do it, most of the time it is nothing special, some people find a way to mess it up anyway, and yet I have had some mighty fine mac and cheese.:neener:

i built my rock river 2 stage match lower with allen wrenches as punches, channel locks, and needle nose pliers( save the money..i did my first one in under 45 minutes with these tools..use electrical tape on reciever so you dont scratch it) save the money on the upper tools because you almost have to have a vise block and barrel wrench( barrow a torque wrench from someone) and order a complete custom upper...i have 1500 dollars in my complete custom Match A4 and started on a 800 dollar budget( i laugh at myself now knowing with my expesive taste that wouldnt happen) so be prepared to spend..take pride in it and do it right

Oh..and they have step by step videos on itstactical.com ...makes it super easy...Watch them and see what your getting into

Does anybody bother reading the original post???
I ordered a LaRue stripped Lower and Upper.

So yes, he does need the parts and tools to assemble an upper.

Although it is noteworthy that a torque wrench can be borrowed or even rented from an auto parts store.

sorry missed the stripped upper part...Basically unless your crafty then youll have to buy at least the upper tools...or sell the stripped upper and buy complete...by the time you pay for upper tools it would have been cheaper to just order the upper built...like i did...custom match 20 ss bull barrel from RRA with BCM gunfighter charging handle, full quad rails, chrome bolt for 755 shipped to my door

Cost really inst a factor... Im not looking for a budget build.

vices, torque wrenches, etc. have been owned by me for decades guys!

seriously, how does a caliber question get so off track?
