A while back I posted a thread about picking up a Remington ADL syn stock in .270 from my brother in law. Well, I did the deed. I'll be picking it up this weekend. It's 4 yrs old, and brand new in the box never fired. Got it for $250.

I need to scope it. After looking and researching a ton of scopes ($200 and under is what I want to spend, looked at Nikons, Burris, Weaver, Leopold), I've narrowed it down to Leopold's Rifleman, either a 3x9x40, or the 2x7x33.

Question: Will I run into mounting problems if I go with the 2x7x33 since it is shorter by an inch or so than the 3x9? I am afraid that with this long action Remington, it may not work. Anyone do this before? I'll probably be using the Leopold standard low mounts and two piece standard bases.

I'm leaning towards the 2x7 because I'd like something a little lighter and handier. I've got a BDL already with a 40mm scope so if I'm concerned about early/late in the day hunting and light transmission, I'd probably just use it instead. This will be a dedicated deer gun, and sometime target shooter. I don't want to get the 2x7, mounts, etc. and find out it won't work. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

no troubles w/ a 2-7 on a l.a. remington.

you might also consider the leupold 6x42 and/or leupold compact.
