I have a new Winchester 94 .30-30 which I have already sent back for a repair (carrier problem.) Anyway, once I get it back, I plan to mount a 4x scope, but I want to leave the iron sights in as well. This will be my first experience mounting a scope, so here are my questions:
1) I am looking at the Millett turn-in style (vs. Weaver style) base and rings, but I just read about a one-piece ring by Williams called the Streamline. Any pros or cons on either?
2) I want to mount the scope as low as possible (one advantage of the Millets, they have low rings), but I don't want the iron sights to block the scope's view. Do I have to mount the scope so that the bottom of the scope clears the top of the iron sights? (I am talking height, not forward-backward). Thanks.
